Give Microsoft's regards to codename 'Broadway'

Summary: The March edition of my free Microsoft Codetracker is done and ready for download. This month includes "Broadway," among other new Microsoft codenames.

I know it's risky posting anything -- and especially something like a new Microsoft codename (or several) on April Fools' Day, but it's that time.

The March edition of my free Microsoft Codetracker is done and ready for download. This month's update includes "Broadway," the Microsoft codename for the Microsoft-Nokia partnership, according to my tipsters. Yes, even partnerships have their own Redmondian codenames now.

The Codename Tracker PDF is the same chart I use myself to keep up with the codenames of products and technologies coming from Microsoft.

If you’ve already registered on ZDNet, you can just grab the latest version. If you haven’t, registration info will be requested before you download it. Whether you’re a Microsoft customer, partner, analyst, competitor (or even employee), you might find the Tracker useful.

If there’s a Microsoft codename missing from my chart that you’d like me to check out and ultimately add, please don’t hesitate to contact me via e-mail. I’m working on fleshing out several new reader suggestions and hope to be adding them to the next update of the tracker. Just so you know: All e-mails I receive are treated as confidential — unless you want a mention/credit line, of course.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to get posts from “All About Microsoft” in e-mail form (hourly, daily or weekly), you can subscribe here. And if you are all about Twitter, you can follow me there, as well.

  • Who really cares about codenames?

Codenames mean nothing. I'm more interested in the actual product when it is actually in working/usable state.

Any other time it is just vaporware.

@wackoae Yeah, this foolish topic that MJF brings to the front every time she has nothing to gossip about, it's absolutely pointless and useless.

    • Cmon MS produces the best codenames

Products are so overrated. USD8+ billion only buy a few good codenames these days, ok throw in a few press releases ( these days of people departing ).

Go MS. Amazing how fast they're declining:-)

      • As long as you believe what you post, Mr. Flude

        @Richard Flude
then you will be happy. As for many here, we would rather deal with the truth.

What I fail to understand is how is it that by lying to yourself you somehow believe that it will actually change the facts in your favor.

There is no logic in it, or in your statements.

@wackoae - I agree. Of course all these 'How dare you use anything but Microsoft products' folks will disagree.

You see, codenames is all Microsoft has. And even THOSE are not so creative! Silly MS shills. Tricks are made for kids! oopps...guess that's why y'all live for MS so much!

    • Those of us who are developers

@wackoae Those of us who are developers get interested a lot earlier than that. That is why, when products are released, an ecosystem quickly forms around it: because people like me have had it for a year and a half and built things on top of it.
