Microsoft begins pushing out Windows Phone 7 security update
Summary: Microsoft has begun notifying some Windows Phone 7 users that a new security-focused update for Windows Phone 7 is ready for download.
Microsoft has begun notifying some Windows Phone 7 users that a new security-focused update for Windows Phone 7 is ready for download.
As MobileTechWorld.com first reported, the "7932" update is being delivered to users, as of May 3. It includes updates to a previously disclosed issue with fradulent third-party digital certificates from Comodo.
Microsoft has revised its security advisory on this issue, noting that the update is beginning to go out to users as of today.
According to the frequently-asked-questions section of the advisory, Windows Phone 7 "customers will receive an on-device notification once the update is available for their phone...will have to connect their phone to a computer and use the Zune PC client or Windows Phone 7 Connector (for Mac) to complete the update process."
Users who don't already have the February and/or NoDo copy-and-paste updates on their Windows Phone 7 devices will get these updates when they get the 7932 update.
"Windows Phone updates are cumulative. When you install the latest update, you’ll also get any previously released update if it’s not already on the device," said a Microsoft spokesperson.
I asked the spokesperson how long Microsoft estimated the rollout process for the latest update might take, given company still has not completed the rollout of the first two updates for all Windows Phone 7 users, due to delays in carrier testing. The spokesperson did not respond to my question.

I think it is the WP7 sales that have frozen over
Some analysts say that Microsoft only sold 674,000 units.

It is madness that some Windows Phone handsets have been unable to receive any update so far. In November 2010, Microsoft promised that this update would arrive within "weeks". Now it's May 2011, and many are still waiting for any update to arrive.
It seems that Microsoft is unable to be competitive in mobile.

You retard, Eldar Murtazin made some random ESTIMATE.
RE: Microsoft begins pushing out Windows Phone 7 security update
probably you may have to improve your reading comprehension. The author gestimated 674,000 units by the end of December 2010, that was 4 months back, http://wmpoweruser.com/674k-windows-phone-7-sales-in-q4-2010-possible/
It was not some analysts, it was some russian analyst he calculated based on AT&T's quarterly report and he based his calculations basing on that. 674K was just aT&T and there are more carriers worldwide than AT&T carrying WP7.
Nice! We will get it in 2012
RE: Microsoft begins pushing out Windows Phone 7 security update
Nah. It will average to 2012. Everyone will have it withing 3 weeks except AT&T users who will get it in 2017.

Not really...
RE: Microsoft begins pushing out Windows Phone 7 security update
Well, actually looks like I was wrong...
I'm a WP7-on-Samsung-on-AT&T user and I just received the update which includes NoDo et all. Went in without a hitch.
Which means..... wait for it.... MS has, for all practical purposes, actually succeeded in keeping it's user base on one version of the OS.
Well played MS, well played.

Sorry to bust your fun, but we are already receiving the updates including AT&T subscribers, while you still wait for your Android updates.

Didn't you hear, May is Official MS Bashing Month... It doesn't really matter what the facts are. But don't worry, July is Official Apple Bashing Month.
