Lang Lang wraps up a concert with Flight of the Bumblebee on the iPad

By | April 21, 2010, 7:54am PDT

Summary: Think the iPad piano apps aren’t as good as the real thing? Lang Lang shows the world how technology can perform, even in a concert setting.

Special Report: Apple iPad

Matt and I have been chronicling our daily use of the iPad. Most recently I’ve been trying out some different piano apps, since I used to play piano and found that the versions for the iPhone were nice, but were a bit too hard to use on the limited screen size. With the iPad now offering a larger screen, it’s ripe for some serious piano planning.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought so, and now Chinese pianist Lang Lang has performed Flight of the Bumblebee using just the iPad. There’s speculation that he used the app Magic Piano, but that’s still speculation. Regardless of the app he used, his performance is incredible, as you’ll see below.

It's what i would expect from him as he is a contemporary entertainer. It's not the music but all about showmanship, aka Liberace.

There were clearly messages and signs saying that cameras and recording devices weren't allowed, but flashes went off and quite a few people were holding up camera phones during the encores. The guy who provided this recording was in orchestra center. I don't think the ushers really cared though after the scheduled program was done.
