T-Mobile announces they will be first US carrier with Galaxy Tab
After Sprint sent the press release for their Samsung Galaxy Tab I thought it would be the first carrier Tab with its November 14th launch. I was wrong as T-Mobile announced that it's Samsung Galaxy Tab is coming on November 10th for the same $399.99 subsidized contract price and it will be the first carrier to have the device. The no-contract price will be $599.99.
The T-Mobile Galaxy Tab will ship with Kindle for Android, Slacker Radio, and Qik Video Chat preloaded. The available plans include the T-Mobile 5GB webConnect plan ($39.99/month) or 200MB ($24.99/month) plan or you can use their new prepaid mobile broadband offerings.
Specifications of the T-Mobile Galaxy Tab include:
- Android 2.2 OS with Android Market support
- 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor
- 7 inch WSVGA display at 1024x600 pixel resolution
- 802.11 b/g/n WiFi
- Bluetooth 3.0
- 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot
- Swype keyboard
Like the Sprint version, the Galaxy Tab does not support their HSPA+ 4G network. I am going to have to swing by a store or try to get a review unit because I really enjoy the Android platform and may find this Tab to be a better choice for my than my iPad, but have to try it before deciding.
