Windows Mobile 6 Professional screenshots

The lines are becoming blurred between the different categories of devices as you can see in the image gallery with some of the key differences in the new Classic, Standard, and Professional classes being a much more powerful Office Mobile application suite that allows you to create documents on a Professional or Classic device, Remote Desktop Mobile in the Classic/Pro models, stupid basic calculator on the Classic/Pro devices while the Standard device actually has a new, fresh calculator designed for non-touch screens, ability to setup your own home page in Internet Explorer Mobile on Classic/Pro devices, and external storage card encryption support on Classic/Pro devices. Check out the 42 new actual screenshots from a Windows Mobile 6 Professional device, including the Windows Update sequence.

I posted some initial thoughts and lots of screenshots on Windows Mobile 6 a couple days ago and my experiences were based on a Standard (formerly known as Windows Mobile Smartphone) device. I received an evaluation Professional device (formerly known as Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition) a couple of days ago and am posting over 40 screenshots in this new image gallery. I also updated the beta ROM on the Standard device I am testing and found that Voice Command 1.6 was included in this ROM. I understand that inclusion of VC 1.6 is left up to the manufacturers/carriers so you may or may not see it integrated on your Standard or Pro device. Unfortunately, while I can access VC 1.6 and change the settings, I am unable to activate and launch Voice Command on either the Standard or Pro device.

While I cannot comment on the devices I am using to test Windows Mobile 6, I can say that using 200 MHz processors on both Standard and Pro devices is a great experience and I find the devices snappier than they were running Windows Mobile 5. Stay tuned for some official Windows Mobile 6 device announcements at 3GSM this coming week.
