Verizon iPhone Imminent: Could it be White?

By | January 7, 2011, 8:59pm PST

Summary: Verizon is having a press event next Tuesday and the WSJ claims it will be to make the announcement of the iPhone coming to Big Red. I believe we’ll see the mythical white iPhone at last.

Verizon is having a press event next Tuesday and the WSJ claims it will be to make the announcement of the iPhone coming to Big Red. This has been expected to happen for some time so it’s no big surprise, but perhaps Apple is bringing the mythical white iPhone to Verizon?

It is widely speculated that a Verizon iPhone will be a very good thing for both the carrier and for Apple. Verizon’s customer base is large and an iPhone launch is likely to generate quite a few sales for both companies as soon as the iPhone hits the shelves. Verizon has a bit of clout even where Apple is concerned, and while this is simply an educated guess on my part I wouldn’t be surprised if the announcement next week includes a white iPhone.

The white iPhone 4 has long been a point of contention with customers, namely the lack of the option. Several reasons for Apple’s lack of producing a much-desired white model of the phone have been given by Apple since the iPhone 4’s launch, including the unlikely excuse that a white version is too hard to make. My take on the whole situation is that a more likely reason there is no white iPhone in AT&T’s inventory is because Verizon has an exclusive with Apple for one.

Verizon is late to the iPhone party and while getting a CDMA version to sell will be a good thing, the carrier surely wants some sort of exclusive to hold over AT&T. What better exclusive than a white iPhone 4 that is available no where else?

Good day to confirm this comment I would appreciate T h e b e s t o f Z D N e t d e l i v e r e d your website very nice to everyone Yes, Oracle is the only one with shared-disk architecture, but that is there advantage. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system. I don't want to discuss about the news about verizon iphone, no matter is white or black, white and blac, or colored red as kenosha7777 said. Just keep waiting, time will tell us everything. We can learn more things from iphone 4 and iphone 3gs. it's sure the apps, games, wallpaper used in iphone 4 are suitable to the "verizon iphone". So, choosing a favourite free resouce from ifunia and waiting for a moment.

Oh come on, if its isn't a black iPhone model, it will be colored red .. as in Big Red!

iphone sucks! I don't know why people are still drawn to it. The OS is crap. The new blackberry torch is a much better phone for work. If you want to play I can see getting the iphone or new windows phone.

As you can plainly see based on current iPhone sales numbers others disagree with you. Oh and I see a lot of business people using the iPhone nowadays. Just saying.

Apple has impressive sales numbers what with but one carrier and one OEM being Apple pushing what is one model. Now that Apple is going to a second carrier these sales numbers for the iPhone should increase. It's all good:)

With the coming of the Verizon iPhone, red, green, blue, yellow, orange or whatever, there will probably be no 4G version of it in 2011, Verizon, AT&T or otherwise.
@MG537
Somewhere down the line I do get an iPhone that runs 4G what will I notice them? Apple does not put Blue Ray in it's Macintosh computers either? Apple does not race to make it's computers run on the latest and greatest processors either nor has it ever I think. Sure Apple does upgrade all it's computers but unlike the PC industry it does not sell based on the latest wiz bang tech spec. I have to say I don't think Apple is going to change that. When Apple think the time is right for 4G Apple will introduce said on it's products.

Which is odd considering how much they charge, and how advanced they seem to be at times... the iPhone and iPad for instance.

White Phones Perform Better
Cyberslammer3 8th Jan 2011
It's a fact. White cellphone reception and performance is generally much better than their black counterparts.

Engineers at the Rubyat Technology Institute in Southern India has done extensive testing related to cellphone color, and have concluded the following:

1. White cellphones are able to recieve significantly weaker signals than black or other dark-colored phones.

2. White cellphones run 2.5 degrees cooler interally than black or dark-colored phones.

3. White cellphone processors are able to perform 1.9% more operations per second than the processors in black or darkly colored phones.

4. People who care about the color of their cellphone have IQ's 25% below normal levels.

Too little, too late
Kalnel 9th Jan 2011
If Verizon had introduced an iPhone six months ago, I'd have bought it. Now, though, I have a Samsung Fascinate, and it does pretty much everything the iPhone does (and a little more).

Unless the Ver-iPhone does something mind-blowing the existing iPhones don't, I'm not getting too envious.

Besides, even if I did want one, with Verizon's new lock-in for 2-year contracts, I'm stuck for 19 more months.

I can only assume that all the agonizing over the legendary white iPhone is because it's a rare beast. Otherwise I have to say that it doesn't look as good and shows dirt way too easily.
