Yes the iPhone is Coming to Verizon; Deal With It!

By | January 10, 2011, 7:39am PST

Summary: It is with great amusement I have been following the news that finally, OMG, the iPhone is coming to Verizon in the U.S.! I have to go on record stating it’s much ado about nothing.

It is with great amusement I have been following the news that finally, OMG, the iPhone is coming to Verizon in the U.S.! As much fun as it is to watch the Internet crawling all over itself with excitement, I have to say that it’s much ado about nothing.

Apple will continue selling lots of iPhones, even more with yet another outlet in the U.S. It’s already selling them all over the world on many different carriers, and while Verizon is no little telco it’s just another in the pot for Apple.

Verizon will continue selling lots of phones, even more with the iPhone on the shelf. It will also keep selling tons of Android phones, or Droids as those in the street refer to them. Big Red may get some AT&T customers defecting to a better perceived network, but life will go on for both AT&T and Verizon.

The addition of the iPhone to the Verizon network will not immediately bring it to its knees. Verizon can handle a lot of smartphones, and there is nothing special about the iPhone that kills mobile networks. It doesn’t even make calls, if the Internet is to be believed.

I do think we might finally see the white iPhone that has hidden from view like a leprechaun, but even so it’s just another phone in the marketplace. Just another color, for that matter. So stand down and take things in stride. If you want a Verizon iPhone, good for you. If not, don’t fret, life goes on. It’s just another gadget.

Good day to confirm this comment I would appreciate T h e b e s t o f Z D N e t d e l i v e r e d your website very nice to everyone Yes, Oracle is the only one with shared-disk architecture, but that is there advantage. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system. I'm sure Oracle appreciates EMC highlighting their advantage.I also desire to signal in your RSS feeds. Thank you as soon as once again and maintain up the great operate Awesome post! Thank you very much || thanks for nice content this is really benefit to me.

Big Deal
bobiroc 10th Jan 2011
After Years of Rumors all I have to say it is about time and who cares. It is just a stupid phone and I say this as an iPhone 4 owner and gave my old iPhone 3G to my wife. The AT&T network is not bad in my area and compared to my parents and siblings that have Verizon and Sprint it is very comparable. It is sad that so many people make such a huge deal over this just because it is an Apple product.
@bobiroc ditto. my only fear here is that the iphone fanbois will cripple my vzw network like they did to AT&Ts
@brandon@...

Haha, that should be a sign that its a better platform, people actually use it.

From the sound of it you're a droid user and already crippled by your device.

@brandon@... Didn't you spew this particularly rancid rhetoric in another VZW iPhone post? AT&T's network isn't exactly crippled... in my neck of the woods I get better overall service with my iPhone 4 and AT&T than I do with my Blackberry Curve and VZW.

I guess some idiots dont realize that selling 10-12 million iPhones IS a big deal. Please tell me which other phone or device other than an Apple device sells even half of that after its annoucned? You cant even fathom what kind of money that means! Not to mention the accessories and app purchases!

Which other company out there is generating that kind of economic activity? Do you know how many jobs that is allowing to exist?

Idiot!
@Bay Area CA Male RIM sells more... they do 10-12 million phones most quarters, all smartphones, but not all the same model. They beat Apple for quarters 1, 2, and 3, but not 4, of 2010. But Apple makes much more profit per phone.

Given that Samsung is selling close to 2 million Galaxy S phones per month, "Samung" comes to mind as someone else who can sell 10-12 million smartphones per year. But that's just one quarter's worth for RIM, and even Apple sometimes.

Apple sold something like 40 million iPhones in 2010... over 14 million in the last quarter. There are still more Android devices sold world wide, but not from one company. Yet. And when it happens, it'll happen first in China.... China Mobile is selling Android phones (they call it the oPhone), and they have more customers than the USA has people.

You people need to stop and find out why people like me, who wanted to purchase an iPhone but didn't because of AT&T. I don't like the company as whole and didn't want to be on their network. So yes, I'm HAPPY AS HECK THAT THE iPHONE IS COMING TO VERIZON.

My question to you is, why do read iPhone articles if you don't care???

@drand54@...
See and its such a simple concept... If you dont care, DONT READ IT.... ********!

I dont read the entertainment section no matter how much cocaine Paris Hilton snorted last night because I DONT CARE!!!! So if you dont care, stay away and shut up!

And yes it is a big deal. I have 3 iPhone 4's on ATT and I hate ATT, they are eveil greed monsters who chrage the most and deliver the least service. If Verizon offers unlimited data plans I will be replacing my 3 phones especially since i can sell them to cover the early termination fees and even chip in for my new Verizon iPhones!!!

That is something most people arent considering...
TONS of iPhones will appear on craigslist from people aching to jump ship because ATT mistreated us!
@Bay Area CA Male Verizon are evil greedy monsters, too.. just evil greedy monsters with a better overall network.

@Bay Area CA Male Ummm didn't you already post the very same thing? As for AT&T's "greed" I'm going to say that you've never dealt with Sprint or VZW before.

As for your claim that TONS of iPhones will be on Craig's list... I hope so because I want to upgrade my wife's and my daughter's iPhone 3G devices to iPhone 4s so we can take advantage of the facetime feature. Oh yeah, I HAVE unlimited data on my iPhone - grandfathered in from when I had MY iPhone 3G.
it'll come to Verizon just before the iPhone 5 comes out. People will line up to buy the iPhone 4 at Verizon and soon after Apple will start to sell the iPhone 5 and all the sheep will complain - mark my words
@stevejg61
What if they release iphone 5?

Haha nice picture but you will never see a verizon logo on on the iphone, Apple would never allow that! that's why I will chose Apple, I hate seeing my Android phone stamped with T-Mobile at the top! and let's not mention all the crapware added!

This user is going from a Android phone to the new iPhone, deal with it!

@Bay Area CA Male

that's not saying much.

stats have shown that iPhone users do actually use more data than other smartphone users so this will actually likely impact Verizon users.. especially if Verizon actually does offer unlimited service to entice iPhone take up..

Doubtful . . .
JLHenry 10th Jan 2011
@doctorSpoc

Isn't Verizon the Company who got rid of their unlimited data plans first, BEFORE AT&T?

In ANY case, neither company has unlimited anymore, and that's not likely to change with the iPhone . . .
