Firefox 3 beta 2 is now scheduled to be available to the public on December 21, Mozilla developers say.

The browser code is now in the quality assurance phase and will enjoy its first round of scrutiny during a test day being held on December 14. If all goes well, it will be made available to the general public before Christmas.

Beta 2 will incorporate performance imporvements, bug fixes and "user facing enhancements to the location bar," said Mike Beltzner, a developer on the project.

"The plan is for the final release to be on December 21st, but depending on what's found during the QA phase, that date might slip," Beltzner reported in an e-mail.

Tried Gran Paradismo, and loved it :). Much faster and much better than the current Firefox. I think Firefox 3 is going to be great :).

  • I'm Really Looking Forward to Firefox 3

But I'm going to wait until the final version is released. I don't even know all of the improvements going into FF3, but from what I read, I definitely have reason to look forward to it.

    I can't wait!!!!

I have been using 3b1 for a month now, and except for some screen display issues, I like it. It is a lot quicker that 2.0.0.10; although many of the extensions that work in 2.0.0.10, will not run yet.

IMHO - FF3 will be another 8 inch lag screw in IE's coffin - but then again, I am biased against IE.

  • Have to agree -

from what I've seen of FF 3 Beta 1, Firefox 3 looks like a winner. I'm very much looking forward to running Beta 2 on my test setup - hope the schedule holds ! But the most important thing is that the new beta is ready for release and doesn't contain a lot of bugs - rather than that, it matters little if the schedule should slip a bit....

  • pre-release

Using the beta3 pre-release. Some good, some bad. No "Go" button next to the address bar. I mostly like it better, once the add-ons become compatible.

So how about helping us relay a *simple* bug fix without having to sign up?
With security to alert when switching from/to an encrypted page, closing the dialog box via the 'X' is treated identically to clicking 'OK'.
    It is NOT!

Thank you and my apologies if this is out of line...

    Hi !

I already got mine today and I had been using FF 3.0b1 since its launch.

So far it had been GREAT ! ! !

Fast and no memory leaking problems even though I used it for 18 hours a day and witrh more than 15 tabs.

Only problem now are the outstanding and unworkable extensions and addons.

    CHEERS !
