I had the pleasure of speaking to Tony Maro, who is CIO and an owning partner in EvriChart, a medical records management company based out of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
EvriChart had some unique requirements which included replacing a Windows-based line-of-business application for document management that would not scale with the continuing growth of their business. By migrating to a Linux/Open Source-based Web application, it paved the way for full desktop Linux adoption at his company. I asked Tony to summarize his experience so that I could share it with you in the hopes that you might gain some valuable insight from the process he had to go through.

EvriChart: A Linux Success Story
LOL!!! Sinking to a new low to try to justify linux. This is just sad. I give them less than a year before they migrate away from it.

And now private
you see the in depth of insight and wisdom that makes LD such a credible authority in the IT industry.

LD...
I like Linux better than Windows, but I do use both. LD is a hater. He's probably not smart enough to use Linux, or does not have patience to troubleshoot it. Linux is a good system, and it is getting better with time.
Loverock must work for Bill, and I bet that out of all of his employees kissing Bill's behind, he is the one that french kisses it, and he does it with glee..... LOL

Look at Ernie Ball
If I'm not mistaken... Ernie Ball, a guitar string manufacturer has been running Linux since 2003. As far as I know they still are.

Ernie Ball
Ernie Ball was ticked off because he got caught stealing Microsoft licenses, they called him on it and he had a hissy fit. Very bad example on your part.
Loverock Davidson10/21/2009 08:11 AM -
Or did he catch them
In their overzealous audit?
If it was a success, it's not exactly a bad example.
IT_User10/21/2009 08:27 AM -
Anything
against MS is a bad example as MS is never a villain.
If it was another vendors client pushed to Windows due to not understanding the license of the previous vendor and as a result violated it, it would become a good example of a poor victimized company benefiting from the MS benevolence.
Surprisingly this is one of LD's more in depth comments even if biased with the MS does no evil attitude.

Licensing
I find it hard to simplify it to that degree, but I guess digestion is in the eye's of the reader. It's more like the BSA was on the hunt, and Ball was the target.

I really don't care why they left. They did, and have been successful ever since.

EB strings are still the best strings for electrics
I won't go to anything else and I can't think of a guitar great who isn't using them.
The quality and availability of the product has never changed.
I'm not sure if it is a Linux success story since I don't know enough about their processes but its hard to argue that company isn't successful.

Strings
They're the only ones I use. Been that way since the late '80s

Martin's on the acoutics
I tried other strings for the acoustics but always end up back using the Martins.
I hear the rest of the world has gone to these red, green, yellow, etc strings. That ain't for me.

You are out of touch
That simply will not happen. But in a year most businesses will have completed their migration away from linux.
