AMR Research: Between 2005 and 2009, companies will spend more than $80B on compliance-related work.

But some of itis wasteful...

Gartner(reg. req.): Many organizations are spending more than they need to on IT-related compliance work, because they haven't clearly defined the scope of what's necessary and sufficient for disclosure.

Socompaniesare getting smarter about it...

META Group(reg. req.): Companies will spend 50%-75% of their 2004 Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) budget in 2005 to optimize compliance approaches.
