Updated May 15, 2012: Phil Wainewright’s work as an independent consultant brings him into direct or indirect business relationships with several of the companies that he writes about, or their competitors. Phil is committed to maintaining the independent and opinionated stance that his writings are well known for and does not enter into contracts that would limit his freedom of expression in any way. However it is important in the interests of full disclosure to inform readers of those relationships so they can form their own judgement. This page therefore lists all Phil’s current business relationships.
Phil Wainewright is a co-owner and director of Procullux Ventures, a privately-held consultancy business. Procullux provides consultancy services to companies primarily in the on-demand sector, advising on marketing messages, positioning and business strategies. It also owns, through a subsidiary, the Loosely Coupled and Frictionless Enterprise websites. Phil is writing a book for publication in 2012 with the title of Frictionless Enterprise. - Salesforce.com — Phil has spoken at customer events and has written several white papers for the vendor, including Reinventing the Business Workspace (PDF) for the launch of Salesforce for Google Apps.
- NetSuite — NetSuite has funded Phil’s travel and accommodation to attend its SuiteWorld event this year. RackSpace Cloud Sites provides hosting free-of-charge for the Procullux Ventures, Frictionless Enterprise and PhilWainewright.com websites.
Phil contributed a blog on The Connected Web for eBizQ (part of TechTarget), and was paid for his time to moderate or participate in occasional webinars and online discussions sponsored by vendors on the site. Paid projects for ebizQ in 2010 were funded by Boomi, Box.net and IBM (on behalf of HubSpan).
Phil is a Focus.com expert and participates in online events as a paid speaker. He has also contributed content at MyVenturePad, a site sponsored by SAP. He has participated in BriefingsDirect podcasts sponsored by vendors.
Phil is chairman of the industry advocacy group EuroCloud UK, part of the EuroCloud community of SaaS and cloud vendors in Europe, which organises monthly member meetings. He is a vice-president of EuroCloud Europe. These are unpaid roles.
Phil was retained by the SIIA to develop the OnDemand Europe 2009 conference in Amsterdam in June 2009. He has served on the steering committee for the SIIA’s On Demand Summit held in San Jose, and attended All About The Cloud 2011 as a speaker. He presented at OnDemand Europe 2010 in London.
Vendors sometimes fund Phil’s travel to events. NetSuite has funded Phil’s travel and accommodation to attend SuiteWorld. Salesforce.com has funded accommodation costs for attending Dreamforce, and SAP has funded accommodation to attend its Influencer Summit blogger day. RightNow funded travel and accommodation to attend its 2010 and 2011 EMEA conferences.
