Microsoft privacy guruÂ’s site hackedIdentityBlog.com, a Web site run by Microsoft's chief architect of identity and access, has been hacked and defaced.

The site, which is used by Microsoft's Kim Cameron to promote discussion around privacy, access and security issues, now contains an "owned by me" message and a link to a third-party site (see screenshot).

The last entry at IdentityBlog.com (Google cache) is dated October 27, 2007, which suggests the site hijack occurred over the weekend.

Cameron could not be reached for comment.

• Just curious

What is Apple's alternative for a web server?

"In a world without walls and fences , who needs windows and gates."

I know the idiocy of this statement has already been pointed out, but in this world, we do have Windows and Gates... usually on our homes, businesses, etc... So I offer this equally insane counter proposal....

• Obviously you can't see past the physical realm .

Anyone who doesn't know what it really means is the true idiot . I can understand
that you want to spin it anyway you want , but understand you didn't make it up . I
did .

Listen to the next clues fool .

You see folks , no hurdles to jump , no hoops to dive thru .

Do you understand now , or will you continue with your idiocy ?

Oh I understood from the very first time you posted it, but just like most ads on t.v., not very accurate, just a cute saying to try and make a wee joke. But that's ok, pat yourself on the back for throwing out reason and sounding witty.

In a world without 'Dubya' and Blair who needs sound editors and parrots...

Or...

No, on second thoughts we'd better laeve well enough alone.

• Anyones site can be hacked....

Given enough time and patience.. its rather easy. Probably just another script kiddie.

• Dude...who is the idiot?

If you knew anything about this guy at all you'd know that (1) he focuses on identity management, not security perse and (2) he's considered to be one of the true innovators in his field so referring to him as an idiot speaks more about you than him.

• You are such a fanboy.

Kim Cameron's web site is hosted on Apache running on FreeBSD & Linux. Your blind hatred of anything MS is religious, not rational. Critical thinking is what you need.

• More are LOL at you now

LOL. You are so right, BUT... you didn't read the whole thing. The Guru's BLOG was hacked, not the her website. The blog is kept on an open source website using WordPress. Next time READ before you jump.

To quot: "Kim's blog is run by commercial hosters (TextDrive) using Unix BSD, MySQL, PHP and WordPress - all OSS products. There is no Microsoft software involved at the server end - just open source."

• How can this be? It runs on UNIX!

http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report?url=http://www.identityblog.com

FreeBSD Apache 29-Jun-2007

Why it's the very same BSD UNIX upon which OS X is based. The very one we've heard makes OS X so ultra secure and hack proof.

• Funny how you can get to identityblog.com and I can't .

Do you want to explain that ? How about explaining as to what a Microsoft employee
would be doing using a UNIX server ? I don't think microsoft would be to happy
hearing about their employee using nothing more than their inherently safe IIS server .
Intellihence
• He didnt go to the site..

i mean wow.. you actually typed that.

As far as a microsoft employee.. so what.. he has his hosting with a company that doesnt use windows.. maybe its cheaper?

• Maybe if he had been using IIS...

...it wouldn't have been hacked. :)

• You obviously know nothing about Microsoft

Microsoft could care less what type of Web server their employees use. My guess is this guy uses some random hosting service that happens to run on Unix.

But it is pretty funny that all the yahoos started slamming Windows/IIS and the site is running FreeBSD. Dumb people say dumb things.
marksashton
• The guy's an MS person...

I doubt he knows how to do anything other that IIS.
bjbrock
• moron

It's a WordPress blog, runs on Wordpress servers
mharr
• Idiot.

So what does that have to do with what I said. He still has to use the software to post to the web. And if IIS is all he knows, it publishes to the internet by the way, idiot, then maybe he should stick to an MS product.
