No French connection for SOA

SOA's a hit across the continent, but not in Paris.
A survey commissioned by BEA Systems finds widespread adoption plans for SOA in a recent survey of European companies. A TechTarget article also provides perspective on the study. The study finds that almost 75% of developers surveyed are either developing, or expect tobe developing, service-oriented architectures (SOA) this year.
The "currently developing" part of the equation is far lower, of course -- and spotty across the EU.
At this point, the UK and Spain appear to be ahead of the pack, and France lags. London and Madrid appear to bethe further ahead in terms of developing SOA applications with morethan 30% in London developers and nearly 25% in Madrid currentlydeveloping such applications. Developers in Paris however, are morelikely to think they won't develop SOA applications for more than ayear, with only 10% currently developing SOA applications.
A surprising development from the home of Minitel, France's pre-Internet Internet. When first rolled out in 1982, Minitel was far ahead of its time. Perhaps the French are more protective of their own systems from outside encroachment, as they are with their language?
