If you haven't noticed, the Internet is shaking things up.

Anyone can spread a message to the whole world in a matter of milliseconds.

Take today's earthquake in Los Angeles.

Before anyone at any news organization could report it, the Twittersphere was buzzing. That's how I found out about it.

This incredible exchange of information can only be possible with a series of big tubes and stable publishing platforms. Without the open-source software project Wordpress, this blog might not be possible.

So what will I cover in this blog?

  • Cutting-edge web utilities that I find useful. This can involve any website that helps humans be more efficient. There are thousands of startups that have great products, but no one is writing about them. I will try to cover those products here, and also explain how companies can benefit from them.
  • Bay area tech parties. This blog is called "The Web Life" for a reason. Spending 10 hours a day online can be exhausting, so I have to balance it out with some social engineering. One of the benefits of living in San Francisco is the diverse tech scene. I will be posting wrap-ups, product demos, and photos from these events.
  • A little bit of social media theory. How are we using the web to communicate these days?

I would also love to hear from you in the comments below. Tell me what you like and what you hate about this blog. One of the most important concepts I took from my first college professor, Matt McAllister, is the answer to the question, "What is communication?"

Message, Audience, and Purpose.

Audience is the glue that holds communication together. So feel free to be a huge part of this experience.
