Datacom joins Lockheed's ATO team

IT services provider Datacom has been co-opted by Lockheed Martin to help with its end-user computing roll-out for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

The new deal between the two IT providers will see the end-user technology and support services contract split into two sections.

The end-user technology services section will provision and support for all end-user technology including printers, faxes and back-end infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the enterprise service management sector component of the deal will handle interaction with staff and the provision of an information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) to handle service management across the ATO.

Datacom will provide the ITIL-aligned service desk. The contract between Lockheed Martin and Datacom is set for five years, with six one-year extension options.

The deal will see Datacom take on an extra 90 staff between its Sydney and Canberra offices to help with the implementation of the deal.

"We're an important part of fulfilling the big business objectives of the ATO through our contract with Lockheed Martin, which are all about supporting business change, being flexible, agile and nimble," Datacom director Mark McWilliams said.

Lockheed Martin beat out rival CSC in July in a contract worth $283 million.
