Don't be so dim

Generally, my enthusiasm for Ubuntu remains undimmed. Except for the odd niggle. The only niggle I’ve had is that the display on my lusty old ThinkPad X60s will dim on inactivity and not undim, even though I’ve set the System > Preferences > Power Management settings to full brightness at all times.

A quick search through the internet revealed this bug report from the Ubuntu Launchpad archives, and the following advice:

use the brightness applet (right click on a panel > click add to panel > select the brightness applet) to control brightness. Only the brightness applet "fastens" the brightness level.

So far, it works. But so far is only 5 minutes…
