HP has started sending out an update to its TouchPad tablet's WebOS operating system that brings performance and reliability enhancements, as well as adding new features to some of the core apps.

The update started to roll out over-the-air on Monday, the company said on the HP Palm blog. Users will be automatically notified that an update is available to download, or can manually check by heading to the system update option within system settings.

The OS — WebOS 3.0.2 — includes changes to the email app to make scrolling faster and improve message and image display on the TouchPad. It also brings the ability to set personal wallpapers, better album art displays within the music player and improved HTML 5 video playback performance, HP said.

HP also noted that the upgrade fixes issues with oversensitive screen rotation, as well as issues with music skipping while using other apps. It also brings a revamped autocorrect dictionary and improvements to the calendar app, including being able to search it using the WebOS 'Just Type' feature.
