Bharti Airtel has set up a network experience center in Indian city of Gurgoan to monitor its services and those of partnering network operations centers (NOCs) in the event of emergencies such as system downtime.
According to the Times of India on Wednesday, the Indian telco's network experience center acts as a central dashboard across all its network services such as mobile, fixed line and DSL broadband, direct broadcast satellite, mobile commerce, enterprise service, international cable systems and Internet peering points.
The real-time data will help the operator prioritize and plan actions to restore affected systems when network breakdowns occur and offer better user experience, the report noted.
This initiative should help Airtel to better comply with regulations requiring telcos to meet quality of service standards, which is timely after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) amended rules to penalize telcos that do not.
TRAI said it proposed the changes because "service providers [were] repeatedly not meeting quality of service benchmarks for some of the prescribed parameters", and past measures have not been effective.
