Intel, GE and Verizon among new batch of Cloud Foundry Foundation members

Software provider Pivotal and its open-source PaaS platform the Cloud Foundry announced the addition of eight new members to the Cloud Foundry Foundation.
Accenture, BNY Mellon, Capgemini, Ericsson, GE, Intel, NTT and Verizon intend to join a mix of companies that include HP, IBM and SAP.
Pivotal announced in February its intentions to set up the independent organization to oversee the open-source arm of the company. Rather than turning over Cloud Foundry other open source organizations such as the Apache Software Foundation, Pivotal established the small coalition of vendors to work together directly.
Pivotal said the community has already made significant contributions to the growing Cloud Foundry environment, including the establishment of a 10-member advisory board, and an increase in contributors by 113 percent, contributing nearly 700,000 lines of code, in the past 12 months.
