Minecrosoft: Microsoft's Mojang acquisition is finalized

Microsoft has finalized its acquisition of Minecraft maker Mojang, which it bought for $2.5 billion.

Microsoft has finalized its acquistion of Minecraft maker Mojang.

There's no official statement from the company acknowledging that Microsoft has taken official possession of Mojang, but there is a tweet from Xbox head Phil Spencer:

 "It’s official, today we welcome Mojang to the Microsoft Studios family. We're excited for the possibilities ahead w/the Minecraft community."

Microsoft paid $2.5 billion to buy Stockholm-based Mojang. The deal was announced on September 15. Mojang became the fourth non-U.S. company Microsoft has purchased this year.

Earlier this year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella identified games and gaming as one of Microsoft's biggest "digital life" categories in which the company planned to continue to invest. 

Minecraft is a construction game where users can build anything they can envision. The game is available on Minecraft.net.
