Mobile payments solutions provider Mint Wireless' current chief executive and co-founder, Alex Teoh, will assume the position as the company's new chairman, while Robin Khuda will take over the CEO role from 1 May 2014.

The announcement follows the company's existing chairman, Terry Cuthbertson, stepping down from the position to remain as the company's independent non-executive director.

Prior to joining Mint Wireless, Khuda held senior leadership roles with various high growth IT and telecommunications companies, including Pipe Networks where he played a role in the AU$373 million merger with TPG Telecom in early 2010. He has also held senior commercial and financial positions with Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand and SingTel Optus.

Teoh said Mint Wireless is on an aggressive expansion path and believes and Khuda's addition to the company will be beneficial.

"Robin's experience will be invaluable to Mint Wireless as we look towards strengthening our market leadership," he said.

He also commended Cuthbertson for his contribution so far, and believes the company will be able to continue draw on his experience.

Last September, the company signed a deal with Bank of New Zealand to provide its PayClip system, which would allow the bank to provide to its business customers a solution where they would be able to receive payments within the next working day.

Mint Wireless estimates the estimated value of mPOS transactions in Australia will reach US$7 billion in 2014 with the potential to grow to US$20 billion in 2016.
