Premier Kristina Keneally has today announced that the NSW State Government will award $150,000 in prizes at this year's Tech23 event held in Sydney.

The amount will be split into five "innovation" prizes, with $25,000 available in four categories: broadband innovation, community contribution, collaboration for innovation, and greatest potential. The final $50,000 will be awarded for innovation excellence.

The premier also announced that Tech23 would be in NSW from 2011-2013.

The state's substantial contribution to Tech23 2010 gives a boost to prize offerings, which otherwise include $1500 from AMP and meetings with industry figures like Roger Allen, David Spence and Ryan Junee.

Tech23 is a one-day event on 19 August showcasing 23 companies within the ICT industry. Applications are now open for companies wishing to present their business plans.
