It was three years in the making as Microsoft releases a public beta of its free Windows Live Essentials suite. Photo Gallery and Movie Maker head the list of tools that are optimized for Windows 7. Mary Jo Foley has more on Microsoft's competitor to Apple's iLife

You don't have to.

I have tried a few photo management apps, including using iPhoto for 3 years now. I guarantee you that Picasa is both better to use, and has FAR more accurate facial recognition.

Give it a go.

If this facial recognition capability works as well as what the iPhoto program does, I won't have to buy an Apple just for this capability alone.
