  • This device from Oregon Scientific is an FM radio and MP3 player; it can also play WMA music files. The gadget has 512MB of memory and can play music for up to 16 hours. According to the company, the player is also waterproof and shock proof. It costs $129.95.

  • This 256MB music player from Rio offers up to 20 hours of battery life, the company says. The device, dubbed the Rio Forge Sport, can also play FM radio and doubles as a stopwatch and lap counter. The Rio Forge Sport comes with an armband, sport clip and earphones. It costs $109.99.

  • The Connected Electronics case from Aquapac is a watertight pouch designed to keep gadgets dry. The pouch isn't meant to be submerged in the water, but the company says it will float, keeping its contents safe, if dropped in the water. It costs $59.99.
