A number of public-sector organizations in the U.K. have been experimenting with digital pen-and-paper technology.

Digital pens are starting to take off in the U.K. public sector. The pens digitally capture information written on specially printed paper that features a dot pattern. A tiny camera determines the pen's location on a page and can store up to 40 pages of text.

Greenwich social workers say the pens fit in with their normal working patterns and don't create a barrier in the way laptops do.
