    As part as an initiative to market itself to digital-photography enthusiasts, Microsoft hosted a Pro Photo Summit on June 28. At the event, the software maker awarded prizes in its inaugural Future Pro Photographer Contest. One overall winner and three runners-up in different categories were selected.

    The contest was judged by Patrick Donehue, vice president of photographer services for Corbis; Christopher Robinson, editor of Digital Photo Pro magazine; and George Lepp, photographer and founder of the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging.

    Here is the grand prizewinner, "Slalom," by Alin Popescu of Slobozia, Romania.

  • Cnidarian in the Clouds

    Here's the runner-up in the "Nature & Landscape" category of the Microsoft Future Pro Photography contest: "Cnidarian in the Clouds" by Yeang Ch'ng of Boston.

  • The Faces

    The runner-up in the "People & Portraits" category of the Microsoft Future Pro Photography contest: "The Faces" by Ho Young Choi of Santa Barbara, Calif.
