Crucial (Micron) Solid State Drives
The 32GB model of Crucial SSD sells for $499 and the 64GB for $899. The 2.5" mounting kit and removable USB caddy is $29.00
Here is what comes in the caddy box.
A 2.5" 32GB SSD in the packaging.
The internal mounting kit will fit in a standard 3.5" drive bay. A 5.25" outer shell is included as well.
The rear end of the mounting kit. It uses standard SATA I/O cabling and uses a standard micro power connector for floppy type devices. Molex Y-splitters are included with the kit.
The caddy is small and is designed to slide into the drive bay, as well as hook up with as standard micro-USB cable as a regular USB storage device.
The removable caddy slides into the PC case mount.

I also mounted twin SSD's internally with no mounting kit. These were cabled using standard SATA2 drive and power connections.
The SSD caddy removed from the PC and cabled via micro-USB connection to my laptop. The device consumes such a small amount of power that only the USB connection is necessary. No power bricks required.
Here's how the 3 SSD's show up in BIOS.
For the purposes of my SSD tests, I decided to build an SSD-only PC using Ubuntu 8.04 hardy heron. The SSDs are recognized just like 32GB hard disks, no other special software or procedures are required. Performance is comparable to a regular SATA2 hard disk, with far less power consumption.
