Christopher Bergland, a three-time Triple Ironman champion recommends some MP3 players designed for athletes.

Take your MP3 player for a workout

This device from Sony, dubbed the NW-S23, is one of several MP3 players designed for athletes that was recently reviewed by Christopher Bergland, a three-time Triple Ironman champion. The 256MB device is described by Sony as water resistant and "skip proof." It comes with an armband strap and can play for 70 hours on one AAA battery, Sony says. The "Sony style" Web site is currently showing a price of $129.95 for the gadget.

With the Marware Bike Mount, a cyclist can strap an MP3 player to his or her handlebars, though Marware notes that the strap is "not suitable for the thicker handlebars of most exercise bikes and gym equipment." But with bikes that move, the device can be used to hold a music player still without scratching the bike, Marware says on its Web site. The mount costs $7.95.

This device from Oregon Scientific is an FM radio and MP3 player; it can also play WMA music files. The gadget has 512MB of memory and can play music for up to 16 hours. According to the company, the player is also waterproof and shock proof. It costs $129.95.

This 256MB music player from Rio offers up to 20 hours of battery life, the company says. The device, dubbed the Rio Forge Sport, can also play FM radio and doubles as a stopwatch and lap counter. The Rio Forge Sport comes with an armband, sport clip and earphones. It costs $109.99.

The Connected Electronics case from Aquapac is a watertight pouch designed to keep gadgets dry. The pouch isn't meant to be submerged in the water, but the company says it will float, keeping its contents safe, if dropped in the water. It costs $59.99.

This MP3 player from Finis attaches to a swimmer's goggles. According to the company's site, the 128MB device "is fully waterproof and can be used with all the competitive swim strokes." It costs $249.99.
