SD TabletWear Google Nexus 7 cases with magnetic sleep capability (gallery)

The Nexus 7 tablet from Google is a hot 7-inch form factor tablet running the latest Jelly Bean Android OS. SD TabletWear has a couple of slick, inexpensive cases that support the magnets in the Nexus 7 to turn on and off the display when you open and close the cover.

The SD TabletWear SmartCase and Stand and Type cases come in simple plastic retail packaging.

The Stand and Type case came in Navy blue while the SmartCase arrived in white. There are several color choices available for each case design.

The cases are designed with the same openings and securing method on the right side, but the covers are different due to two different methods for propping up your Nexus 7.

SD TabletWear Stand and Type

The Stand and Type case has two grooves on the top cover where the case bends. The functionality of this is shown in a later image.

SD TabletWear SmartCase

The SmartCase model has two grooves on the top cover that are evenly spaced. This top cover looks more like the iPad Smart Cover and functions in a similar manner.

The right side of both models is similar and as you can see the display is fully viewable and there is an opening above the display for the front facing camera.

This photo shows how the SmartCase can be used for a more upright scenario. The top folds over into a triangle to prop up the Nexus 7.

You can also place the SmartCase on a table in a lower angle. I prefer this for typing with an external Bluetooth keyboard.

It was enjoyable to watch Transformers with my Nexus 7 held in place by the SmartCase.

The Stand and Type case can also be propped up at a high angle, which is great for watching movies.

SD TabletWear Stand and Type

While the SmartCase folds in on itself to prop up your Nexus 7, the Stand and Type case uses a flap on the back that holds the top in place. This feels like a more secure mechansim.

There is very little bulk added with this case around the Nexus 7 and the package still feels light and portable in your hand.

Both cases have five openings cut out over the speaker so your speaker can still be heard even though most of the time you will probably be using headphones.
