Ramesys rebrands as RedSky IT

Ramesys, the software development and support company, announced on Wednesday that it has sold its education business, and rebranded itself as RedSky IT.

RedSky IT said it will consolidate the existing Ramesys construction, retail, hospitality, and travel applications businesses into one unit. The education arm is being sold to the unit's management, and the educational unit will continue to trade as Ramesys.

Senior management at the company came to the decision to sell partly because the education arm operates on a different business model to the other parts of the business.

"This is a real win-win for all concerned," said Gordon Matthew, chief executive officer of Ramesys. "Our education business is largely involved in IT services and software fulfilment to schools with a different model to our application focused businesses."

RedSky IT will have a turnover of £30m, according to Ramesys, and will employ over 350 people.

"We are consolidating these software businesses to form one fully integrated business with more scale and potential for growth. By integrating these individual businesses into a single organisation, we will be able to combine our capabilities and strengths, and apply best practice across our company in critical business areas," said Matthew.
