Salesforce snaps up French firm EntropySoft
Salesforce has quietly acquired French software company EntropySoft, a niche enterprise content management (ECM) business.
While Salesforce did not announce the deal itself, EntropySoft's website now indicates the company has been acquired by the company.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed and the transaction appears to have occurred a month ago, according to a report by Venture Beat.
The French firm was founded in 2005 and sells software to improve interoperability between big-name ECM systems, used to manage unstructured data, such as documents and email, often required for compliance or e-discovery.
EntropySoft has OEM agreements with IBM, EMC (Documentum), Symantec and Box and in 2011 raised $3.5m to expand its US operations.
Its product Connector Hub supports access and work on documents that are stored in dozens of different content management repositories, including Microsoft’s SharePoint. The company claims to tackle information silos that companies build up over the years.
It's not clear what Salesforce intends to do with EntropySoft, however the enterprise cloud giant itself entered the unstructured data management business back in 2007 with the launch of its coding language Apex and the ContentExchange platform.
