Samsung has acquired PrinterOn in a bid to enhance its mobile cloud services for the B2B market.

The deal, announced on Tuesday, is expected to reinforce Samsung's mobile ecosystem, and specifically for business-to-business clientele.

Financial details were not disclosed.

PrinterOn, focused on the enterprise, education and general printing markets, uses cloud computing to connect any smartphone or tablet to PrinterOn-compatible printers. Documents can be emailed from mobile devices, which are then sent to the cloud to be printed at one of 10,000 locations across the globe. Documents will then be printed once the user enters a security code.

Under the terms of the deal, the Ontario-based firm will continue to act as an independent company, albeit a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung.

Angus Cunningham, CEO of PrinterOn commented:

"We are pleased to become part of Samsung Electronics Canada. This acquisition will allow PrinterOn solutions to be incorporated into the Samsung mobile ecosystem, enabling widespread adoption of PrinterOn's unique technology and providing device agnostic mobility solutions for an increasingly mobile world."

PrinterOn solutions have been deployed worldwide in over 120 countries.

Last month, Samsung announced the acquisition of SmartThings, an Internet-of-Things (IoT) company which develops smartphone-operated home device controllers.
