SAP Australia has picked up former Unisys Asia-Pacific and Japan regional vice president Andrew Barkla to head up its Australian operations as its new managing director.

The Australian broke the news this morning that Barkla would step in to the position that was vacated by Tim Ebbeck in January this year after a four-year tenure. SAP confirmed that it has found a new head, who will be starting next week.

The Australian branch has been in the hands of the company's chief operating officer, Shane Grober, for the past four months.

Barkla is no stranger to the enterprise software arena or to building up profitable companies in the software industry. His last role was at Unisys, prior to which he spent four years at PeopleSoft, working his way to chief executive of the Asia-Pacific region. Before that, he spent time at System Software Associates in various senior roles, including as the Australia and New Zealand managing director.
