Cybersecurity giant Symantec is adding to its portfolio of SMB technology with Norton Small Business, a product specifically designed for companies with fewer than 20 employees.

It seems strange to imagine that the developer hasn't had this product before.

The big pitch is simplicity: a subscription covers a certain number of devices, up to 20 devices (so that 20-employee number is actually a little deceiving especially since most people are using more than one device these days). Here are some of the things that the service includes:

  • A money-back guaranteed "100 percent virus removal" assurance
  • The Norton Mobile Insight app, which lets you locate and wipe a lost or stolen device
  • Coverage for personal computers, Macintosh systems, Apple iOS smartphones or tablets, and Android mobile gadgets
  • A Web-based management portal for monitoring the settings for protected devices

Pricing starts at $99 per year for up to five devices; $199 for 10; and $399 for 20. Beyond the base level plan, small companies can protect additional computers, smartphones or tablets for $20 per year per device. (There's a prorated fee for anything that isn't covered for the full year.)
