When tears get in your eyes

I don't practise in an area of law called Family Law. It is an area which deals with family relationships and primarily revolve around divorce (including maintenance and custody issues).

Someone sent me a link to this site featuring a contest to vote for the best submissions sent in by Singapore children between the ages of six and 16 about their fathers.

Read it for yourself and vote for some. I could not finish reading the blogs without reaching for the tissues (and lawyers don't cry that often). Monica Seah Jie Ling from Radin Mas Primary School wrote about her dad who passed away when she was seven. Bella from Northlight School wrote about being unloved by her biological father and stepfather but still loved them anyway.

The law tries to sort out a situation where a marriage between adults breaks down--but the suffering and anguish of the kids cannot be measured. What I do know is as a new father, you can never neglect your family. I'm going to give my baby a hug.
