Wi-fi and 3G tablet models now coming to these shores a little later than planned...

Apple's iPad tablet will go on sale in the UK in "late April", the company has revealed.

The late April launch date applies to both models of iPad - the wi-fi only and wi-fi plus 3G - in the UK.

Apple's UK website still gives a March launch date for the wi-fi only iPad (see below), with the 3G iPad slated to arrive in the UK in April. However, according to a press release from the company today, both devices will now arrive at the same, albeit slightly later, time.

CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad back in January. The touchscreen tablet device resembles a giant iPod Touch and is designed for web browsing, playing games and reading e-books.

Apple said UK pricing for the device will be announced in April, along with pricing for Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland - who will all also get their hands on iPads in late April.

Additional countries will also get the iPad later this year, the company added.

Apple also announced US launch dates for iPad today: 3 April, for the wi-fi device, and late April for wi-fi and 3G.
