Apple is serious about the new iPad Pro being an "ultimate PC replacement," so much so that it's giving new buyers the chance to purchase an Office 365 subscription at the time that they buy the iPad Pro.

Along with the Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboards, Smart Covers, and a raft of overpriced adapters is a "Productivity" option that offers three different Microsoft Office 365 subscription options.

Yes, Apple is actively pushing a Microsoft product to iPad buyers.

  • Microsoft Office 365 Personal (1-year Subscription; 1 License) for $69.95
  • Microsoft Office 365 Home (1-year Subscription; 5 Licenses) for $99.95
  • Microsoft Office 365 University - 2 Licenses for $79.95

The option is also available to those buying the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 4.

This is the first time that Apple has offered a third-party option to buyers, and it's a clear indication of how seriously it is taking the challenge of replacing the 600 million or so old PC out there.

Oh, and next time you think that there's some colossal "holy war" going on between Apple and Microsoft, remind yourself of this.
