Few Malaysians aware of govt ICT programs

The Malaysian government may be a strong advocate of ICT, but the public still has a poor understanding of what the government is doing with respect to ICT.It seems that less than 5 percent of 4,000 respondents of a survey knew about the government's Malaysian Information, Communications and Multimedia Services 886 (MyICMS 886) launched in 2005.

The Malaysian government may be a strong advocate of ICT, but the public still has a poor understanding of what the government is doing with respect to ICT.

It seems that less than 5 percent of 4,000 respondents of a survey knew about the government's Malaysian Information, Communications and Multimedia Services 886 (MyICMS 886) launched in 2005.

There is a general sense amongst the public that ICT is important. It's just that there are so many government ministries, agencies and initiatives out there that it's very confusing to the public what each is about.

Besides, a name like MyICMS 886 doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Serious branding issues need to be addressed if the government wants the public to understand and be excited about such programs.
