Garmin nuvifone A50 Android and M10 Windows Mobile devices announced

The Garmin nuvifone devices never really appealed to me, but I can see them being an attractive choice for those who like the Garmin GPS experience and want a GPS-focused device with phone capability. I read the news on Phonescoop that Garmin just announced the nuvifone A50 Android device and nuvifone M10 Windows Mobile device in advance of MWC coming next week. Both will be shown off in Barcelona so we should see more hands-on from those in attendance.

Garmin nuvifone A50

The A50 is a Google Android device (version of the OS was not in the press release) with a 3.5 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen. It has an integrated 4GB Flash drive, microSD card slot, 3 megapixel camer with auto-focus, and accelerometer. Microsoft Exchange support is provided for syncing with your calendar, contacts, and email.

Being that it is a Garmin device, GPS navigation is a major focus with Garmin on-board maps and navigation program. In the box you will also find a car mount and vehicle power cable. A compass is included in the device so the cityXplorer maps can be used for buses, trains, and other public transportation systems and pedestrian mode. Google Maps is also supported since it is an Android device.

The Garmin A50 should be available in Europe in the first half of this year, with no statement about US availability or price.

Like the A50, you will find a car mount and auto charger in the box. Availability is scheduled for the first half of 2010 in Asia and Europe.
