Telecommunication services provider People Telecom and Destra have signed an agreement to enable People Telecom's residentially focused Swift broadband service division customers to download music online.

The new service, branded Swiftmusic, allows customers to acquire and download music 24 hours a day via an interconnect agreement with Destra. The music download can be made from any Destra music site which includes JBHIFI.com.au, Sanity.com.au, Chaosmusic.com and MP3.com.au.

"There's no doubt that it's the content that excites users," said Ryan O'Hare, People Telecom chief executive officer "We are introducing our thousands of customers to Swiftmusic by initially offering them Swiftmusic vouchers. These will entice customers to evaluate the new offering which we are confident will win them over."

Destra has set up a link between its own network and People Telecom that ensures music download traffic is not counted for monthly billing purposes.

"This guarantees that the downloads do not count as part of a customer's monthly download quota," O'Hare said.

Destra's chief executive officer, Domenic Carosa, said, "The incentive strategy is a unique approach to introduce People Telecom's Swift broadband customers to the ease, speed and cost effectiveness of downloading music from the net."
