Sapphire has taken two of ATI's mid-range Radeon HD 4600-series graphics card, thrown away the reference specification and added its own brand of special sauce to make the cards even better.

The two cards getting the special treatment are the HD 4650 and HD 4670, and the special sauce is in the form of faster memory, more output options (VGA, DVI and HDMI), and, on the HD 4670, an ultra-low-noise cooler.

The main difference between these cards and the reference spec is the faster memory - the HD 4650 uses GDDR3 while the HD 4670 is kitted out with GDDR4.

Of the two cards, the HD 4670 represents the best value offering a 30% framerate advantage of the HD 4650 for only a few dollars more. Price of the HD 4670 is in the $80 region, with the HD 4650 in the $60 - $70.

Excellent value!
