Moto Z and Moto Z Force owners, here's some good news: your phone is about to receive Android 7.0 Nougat, and after the update is complete, you'll have a Daydream-ready device.

Meaning you can use it in tandem with Google's $79 Daydream View headset and remote to escape into a virtual world.

Motorola had never announced or even hinted the Moto Z line was compatible with Google's VR platform, so it's undoubtedly a welcome surprise to those who already own the Moto Z.

Prior to Monday's announcement, Google's Pixel phones were the only devices available that worked with Daydream.

According to Motorola, the update will begin rolling out globally this week to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Presumably, that means the unlocked and Verizon model of the Moto Z will receive it at the same time.

We've contacted Motorola, asking for clarification regrading unlocked variants and timing of the update for the Moto Z Play, as the company's software update page is scarce on details. We will update this post when we hear back.
