Five things you didn't know about me

Five things you didn't know about me

Summary: I've been tagged, and it would be downright churlish to refuse to play along. So, here's my contribution to an Internet fad that is rapidly turning into the online equivalent of The Wave.

I got tagged (and Mary Jo played along, so far be it from to be the curmudgeon). Here's my contribution to a fad that is rapidly turning into the online equivalent of The Wave:

  1. My high school debate partner (briefly) was Chris Isaak. Yes, that Chris Isaak.
  2. Speaking of debate, I went to UCLA on a full scholarship from the debate team. Get into an argument with me at your own peril.
  3. My first "real" job out of college was as an editor at Oui magazine, a division of Playboy Publishing. I spent three excellent years at that job. And yes, I went to parties at Hef's mansion. So there.
  4. I came of age in the 1960s and 1970s, when the Vietnam War was going from bad to worse. I was eligible for the draft in 1973, the year it was, thankfully, suspended.
  5. I hate chain letters, of which this is one. So I'm not tagging anyone else.

If you feel like getting involved in this folderol, feel free to do so and blame me. If five of you do it, I'll be off the hook.

just because it CAN be done does not mean it SHOULD be done. WHO CARES???

Lying awake in dread of the draft is something I still think about from my formative years. It didn't help that the year before I became eligible (also '73) my birthday was picked third in the lottery. That is, if memory serves...

  • Keep the job at Oui if parties are included
