101 screenshots of useful Apple iPad apps

Summary: To help businesses and IT departments find and evaluate useful iPad apps, TechRepublic put together a screenshot gallery of apps that allow you to track projects, take meeting notes, view dashboards and visualize ideas.

Straight out of the box, the Apple iPad provides business users with an instant-on computing experience, a full-screen view of email and calendar, and much better battery life than most laptops. While those features alone are enough to attract some users, the iPad’s application platform is opening up a lot of additional possibilities that are enticing to business leaders.

As ZDNet reported in May, a number of prominent CEOs are talking up the iPad and turning into unpaid evangelists.

Here are some of the useful business tasks that executives and professionals are doing with the iPad:

Yes the iPad is a real computer and a lot of us Bring our work with us not take our work to the office. Look at mpengo.com for great iPad apps for construction and service industry. Be careful of apps that are free and cost you $$$ when you go to their cloud to store your data. the iPad is the laptop of the future.

@guihombre I've always had this sense that Apps are worthless. I've often questioned whether I was missing something. Lately I've found more and more proof that I'm not. There's a maximum of a half dozen apps that are truly worth their salt. Another half dozen that people can convince themselves they will use-- if the perfect occasion presented itself. Everything else is just pointless.

You can't dupe people for very long. They'll catch on and then we all look back and realize apps were a fad.

In my zeal to take advantage of what I assumed was experience or research of these apps, I went to the App store to check out two that interested me: Navigon Mobile Navigator, and Distance Meter Pro. Most of the reviews on both say that they are terrible, can't do what they say, and not to buy these apps. What are the odds of that happening? It makes me think that you haven't used all of the apps that you're recommending. in my experience, most reviews in the App store are detailed and accurate. It's a travesty that you didn't include The Big App Show on this list. As a means of discovering worthwhile apps it is the one no-brainer app that should be on everyone's iPhone. This data is more interesting. Whether or not people actually buy an iPhone, the trends ChangeWave is describing suggest that Cingular is going to see an increase in subscriber ships in the near future, while Verizon will see a dip. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system.
