It appears that Amazon may be prepping the launch of its long rumored and reported tablet.

The company has called a press conference next Wednesday in New York. Traditionally, Amazon holds its new Kindle unveilings in the Big Apple. This year may just include the fabled Amazon tablet.

Talk of an Amazon tablet has been rampant of late. In fact, the Kindle Tablet may be one of the worst kept secrets in the tech industry. Specs have been reported by TechCrunch and Forrester is already projecting how many units will ship.

Sarah Rotman Epps, a senior analyst at Forrester Research, argues that Amazon can launch a tablet priced below $300, then Amazon will likely sell three to five million tablets in the fourth quarter of 2011 alone — that is if we even see it this year.

Amazon's plan will be to wrap its music, video and other services into subsidized bundle via a tablet.
