Best Document Management Services Provider?

Summary: The New York Law Journal rankings are not a scientific survey of the marketplace but rather a popular vote. This year, over 2,000 readers cast votes. Doc has lots of friends in the legal business and one thing I know is that, in addition, to their fancy Burberry coats, most attorneys deal a lot with document management—indeed, the legal profession is top market for such systems. So when 2,000 employees of various law firms take a vote on which vendor is the best document management services provider, I stand up and pay attention (or at least get off the floor and back on my chair).

The New York Law Journal rankings are not a scientific survey of the marketplace but rather a popular vote. This year, over 2,000 readers cast votes. The voting was conducted via online ballot and the ballot was compiled by the New York Law Journal. Readers were notified of the ballot through direct emails and online advertisements.

The ballot consisted of 42 categories encompassing the areas of Technology, Research, Accounting, Insurance, Financial Services, Litigation Support, Education, Recruiting, and Staffing. In total, over 350 firms were listed on the official online ballot, and voters were also given the option of writing in any firms not seen listed; almost 400 firms received votes via the write-in option. Once voting was completed, the ballot was scrubbed of all non-eligible, non-end-user votes. The final totals and rankings reflect only the votes cast by those end-users.

I know, I know. Cut to the chase. Who was the big winner? None other than Ikon Office Solutions.

But Doc's big question is, which clients ended up getting billed for the time it took employees to get through a survey with 42 categories and over 350 firms? They must really be passionate about their document management.

  • One size fits all???

I would like to see more of the why they are so good. Also I have found in the past that many times the top provider is not the best provider in all cases.

An example of what I am driving at is a law firm may not have the technical personel to utilize some of the more powerful features of a product that say an Telecommunications company might have.

So where are the results and some analysis? Or is that what you are selling?
