Belkin N1
With its bright blue illuminated symbols at the front and three sprouting antennas at the rear, Belkin’s shiny black N1 router is certainly attractive. It also features a built-in 4-port switch for wired LAN connectivity, with a separate network port to attach an ADSL or cable broadband modem.

A first look at Windows Vista (finally!)
It's taken years longer than even the most pessimistic Microsoft watcher expected, but Windows Vista, formerly code-named Longhorn, has finally been released to manufacturing. Here's a detailed look at what's inside.

esxMigrator
Launched in September, esxMigrator from Vizioncore lets server administrators migrate virtual machines (VMs) from servers running the VMware ESX Server 2.x virtualisation platform to those running VMware’s flagship ESX Server 3, part of VMware’s recently launched Virtual Infrastructure 3 (VI3) package of server virtualisation tools. Given that VI3 is cheaper than its predecessor and has better features, this is an upgrade that most businesses running VMware are likely to perform sometime soon.

Acer TravelMate 4262WLMi 3G
Mobile working these days requires plenty of communications options. Wireless networking is a standard feature of notebooks, with built-in Wi-Fi delivering email and Internet access in the office and on the road thanks to Wi-Fi hotspots. For more continuous over-the-air communications, SIM-based data cards for cellular networks (GPRS and 3G) have become popular. The next logical step is building SIM card support directly into notebooks, freeing up the system's PC Card slot for other duties.

i-mate JAQ

One of the consequences of HTC's decision to seek a higher profile for itself by releasing devices under its own brand name seems to have been the defection of some companies to other suppliers. i-mate has announced two devices which are not made by HTC: a smartphone, which we will evaluate shortly, and a connected Pocket PC device, the JAQ. Whether a realignment away from HTC becomes permanent for i-mate remains to be seen, but the move has, in this instance, allowed i-mate to make a bold choice of hardware.

Palm Treo 750v
The UK has waited a long time for Palm to bring a Windows Mobile-based Treo over from the US, but at last the Treo 750v is here. The ‘v’ indicates that this smartphone is exclusive to Vodafone, although we expect it to be available from other operators -- and maybe also SIM-free -- in due course. Palm may have upset legions of Palm OS fans by choosing to license Windows Mobile 5.0, but Microsoft's OS was undoubtedly chosen with more than half an eye on corporate integration. The good news is that Palm has tweaked the Windows Mobile software in some intelligent and compelling ways to come up with an extremely usable smartphone.
