Citrix is extending its mobile portfolio and support for its online work platform, Podio, with a new Android app.

The Android app comes with all of the same features and flavor as the iOS version. Teams can manage their projects in Podio workspaces and get work done on-the-go by accessing Podio apps on their mobile devices as they would on a desktop browser.

The Podio mobile app also offers access to more than 700 free, pre-built apps from the Podio App Market, which includes includes third-party support from enterprise software providers such as Zendesk, GoToMeeting, and Freshbooks, among others. Users can also build apps suited to their own work needs through the Podio App Builder.

To recall, Citrix acquired Podio in April, which in turn helped beef up Citrix's collaboration solutions portfolio. That is becoming more important than ever as the BYOD trend is slowly becoming the norm, while competitors are fiercely trying to roll out (or acquire) socially-enhanced collaboration platforms all the time.

Some of the social features available on Podio include the standard real-time news feed and activity stream along with push notifications and private messages integrated with a user's phonebook.

Citrix Podio for Android is available now for free from Google Play. The iPhone/iPad version was released earlier this month, and that is also free to download from the iTunes App Store.
