I need a new laptop. My oldest son's laptop finally bit the dust, and he's pretty well attached to it, both for personal and school purposes.

Just a quick note this morning, that AMD will no longer be developing their Geode line of chips. This chip was the ultra-low voltage processor that powered the OLPC XO laptop and generally ran around 1W of power consumption (versus the 15W of other low-power alternatives offered by AMD).
I recently wrote a post about 64-bit drivers and my moderately successful attempts to install 64-bit Windows on my new laptop. Just an update - I downloaded 64-bit open-SUSE to take it for a spin.
System requirements haven't been much of a consideration with Android. Until now, if reports coming out of CES are to be believed.
