12.4 mln smartphones to sell in the US in 2005, 98.5 mln by 2009

Gartner forecast that 40.9 mln basic and 12.4 mln enhanced smartphones will be sold in 2005. By 2009 the basic smartphone category will grow by 44.9% to 180.2 mln units, while enhanced smartphones will grow by 67.9% to 98.5 mln units.
